Engineering consulting services have long been known in society. But have you ever wondered who the pioneer of Engineering Consultant in the world was?
The consulting firm from the United Kingdom, Mott MacDonald, was the first service provider in the field of Engineering Consultant. Through the merger of Mott, Hay, and Anderson, and Sir M MacDonald & Partners, this company was formed in 1989.
After the merger into one company, Mott MacDonald easily adapted and underwent massive expansion through the acquisition of several consultants. For example, in 1994, the company successfully acquired Ewbank Preece, which operated in the energy and telecommunications sectors. Then, in 2000, the company acquired Cambridge Education Associates, which operated in educational consulting. And in the following years, the company continued to make many acquisitions.
Quite interestingly, in 2019, Mott MacDonald was entrusted by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) for the development of railway infrastructure in the construction of the Jakarta LRT project. This proves that the British consulting firm is capable of expanding its wings across continents. All of this has been achieved because they have a goal to improve society by considering social outcomes in everything we do, relentlessly focusing on excellence and digital innovation, transforming our clients’ businesses, our communities and employee opportunities.
