79th National Railway Day Celebration: Rising Towards Revolution

Daily routines require most Indonesians to use public transportation. There are so many options available such as City Transportation (Angkot), Transjakarta Bus, conventional buses, and several types of trains. This helps to overcome traffic congestion and reduce the use of carbon emissions. Over time, transportation in Indonesia has grown rapidly, one of the main players in this transformation is Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI).

PT KAI has been established for 79 years, innovations to provide safe, comfortable, and efficient train transportation have been continuously explored for the Indonesian people. In the period from January to August 2024, PT KAI has transported 299,752,109 passengers, setting the highest record in the company’s history. This achievement proves that trains are one of the main choices for people to travel both short and long distances.

The success of the growth in the number of passengers is also in line with the government’s efforts to support the use of public transportation to reduce air pollution. As a provider of mass transportation services, PT KAI plays a significant role in reducing people’s dependence on private vehicles, which ultimately has a positive impact on the environment.

During its 79-year journey, PT KAI has continued to spread its wings in transforming. From the manual train ticket system to electronic money cards, to the implementation of full digitalization through applications, trains in Indonesia have embraced technology to provide the best experience for all passengers. The development and improvement of infrastructure, from modernizing the train fleet to building infrastructure such as new stations and double tracks, are real steps in providing the best service.

In addition, PT KAI has also facilitated various additional services, such as free Wi-Fi, ergonomic seats, and food and beverage services on the train. All of this is intended to improve passenger comfort and make traveling by train a pleasant experience.
